Gardener's Notes:
In early spring, start indoors 6 weeks before outdoor night temperatures have reached 55F (13C). Sow seeds 1/4" deep and 1" apart in seed starting mix. Keep moist and warm and provide a strong light source. When seedlings are 2" tall, transplant into 4" individual pots. Maintain at 70-75F (21-24C). Feed with half-strength fertilizer every 2 weeks. Once nights are above 55F (13C), acclimate to outdoor conditions. Transplant 2' apart into rich, fertile soil in full sun. Provide stakes or cages when planting, or allow vines to spread over the ground; these vining plants act similar to tomato vines.
