Mayo's Delight Beefsteak Tomato - Eagleridge Seeds

This endangered family heirloom comes to us from Mayo Underwood. She received the seed while running her heirloom seed business in the Chicago area. She passed the seed on to Jeff Fleming, another heirloom tomato enthusiast, to grow out and test. We are very glad she did. He coined the name Mayo's Delight and we have kept the seed in our Seed Bank since the early 2000's. Our thanks to Jeff for sharing his story and for keeping this anonymous family heirloom alive!

Tested in both outdoor and greenhouse conditions on our farm, we are so pleased to share our results! Beautiful deep pinkish red large fruit, almost heart shaped, perfect tender skins with meaty flesh. The perfect slicer. The flavour is layered and complex with a balance of acid and sweet . Semi determinate vines need good support. Ripe fruit starts in about 80 days. An excellent keeper once picked and end of season green fruit ripens beautifully indoors.
