Monstrous Carentan Leeks are very hardy and vigorous. Their mild flavor is sweet and enjoyable. This variety doesn't cause much problem being easy to grow and tolerant of cold. *After transplanting to garden.

Plant outdoors in a trench 15 cm (6") deep and 15 cm (6") across. Gradually fill trench as plants grow, surrounding the stems with soil.
Planting Depth: 1.3 cm (1/2")
Plantling Spacing: 15 cm (6")
Row Spacing: 45 cm (18")
Leeks are very heavy feeders, so fertilize well with rotted manure.
Preparation Ideas: Cut off dark green ends down to the light green and trim off root ends. Cut remainder lengthwise and separate fanning the layers. Carefully wash layers to remove garden dirt and slice to add to soups and stocks.
