Coreopsis grandiflora
AAS and Fleuroselect Gold Medal Award Winner. A very popular and easy to grow perennial that requires maintenance. Look for lots of large, fluffy flowers of rich golden yellow on 45 cm (18") long, sturdy stems. Excellent in the border and for cutting. Flowers retain their colour well when dried. Also listed as Coreopsis lanceolata by some growers. Sowing this variety as late as March will still often allow enough time for it to bloom in the first summer. Typically. blooming begins 100 days after sowing. Benefits from morning shade. Hardy to Zone 3.
How to Grow
Sow directly outdoors or 10 weeks early indoors for early summer flowering the first year. Sow outdoors anytime April to June or again in August and early September for flower in the following year. After that, grow-on under lights at a cooler temperature of 12 C (50 F) before hardening off and transplanting to a sunny spot in the garden.
