Portulaca grandiflora
Double and semi-double multi-coloured flowers form a dense mat in hot, dry areas. Brilliant colours last all summer long. Perfect for that hot, dry, sunny site. This heat lover needs little watering except during drought periods. Makes a stunning ground cover on a sloping hill.

How to Grow:
Scatter seeds directly on the ground and barely cover with soil in mid to late May. Alternatively, to get a jump on the season, start seeds indoors in a soil-less mixture for 6-8 weeks before planting outside in late May. Leave the seed uncovered on the growing medium and apply heat to maintain a temperature of 26°C (79°F) for a 7-14 day germination period. Grow on at 18°C (62°F) until hardening off and transplanting outside.
