Digitalis
Naturalized all over our island, always seen in the woods, along roadsides, and in meadows. Biennial and can self-sow readily if left to produce seed. This is a mix of pinks and white, wildcrafted from our farm. Forms a dense green rossette of large oval soft leaves. Flowering stems up to 4 feet tall are filled with large tubular flowers. They are a rich nectar source that attract hummingbirds. An ideal addition to the pollinator-friendly garden, needs no care, is drought-tolerant, and deer-resistant. Source of the heart medicine digitalis. Best to wear gloves if any maintenance is required. Not to be ingested. Can direct sow these tiny seeds and do not cover them. Allow 12-inch spacing.
