A very unique variety of alliums, “Bulgaricum” (aka Sicilian Honey Lily) presents its flowers with many loose-hanging bell-shaped umbels. The petals are a creamy white colour with purple and green accents. This self-sowing perennial easily naturalizes and is deer-resistant, making for a hassle-free planting experience. Plant allium “Bulgaricum” in dry soil and in a spot where it can receive full sun. When planting, place bulbs at a depth of 4 inches and leave about 4 inches of space between individual bulbs. Plant in Autumn (Sept-Dec)  in anticipation of the following summer’s (June - July) arrival of “Bulgaricum’s” gorgeous blooms and sweet fragrant scent! Allium “Bulgaricum” can grow to an impressive height of 36 inches, making it a definite standout for any garden bed or border. This bee-friendly gem grows best in hardiness zone 6, but can also work in zones 7 - 9. Note that alliums are poisonous if eaten by most pets.
