Amsonia – tabernaemontana
A graceful native perennial commonly called Eastern Bluestar, Amsonia tabernaemontana features slender, willow-shaped foliage that turns a luminous golden yellow in autumn. In late spring, it is clothed in loose clusters of delicate star-shaped, powder-blue flowers that float above the foliage on upright stems. Its upright, clumping habit gives a subtly architectural presence, and the foliage remains attractive through summer until fall color kicks in. Low-maintenance, deer-resistant, and pollinator-friendly, it’s an excellent choice for mixed borders, rain gardens, or native plantings.
