Camassia Quamash (a.k.a. Camas or Wild Hyacinth) is a clump-forming bulbous perennial with upright racemes packed with dozens of star-shaped, 3” wide, purple-blue flowers, each adorned with six showy tepals, a green centre, and bright yellow stamens. Borne on stout, willowy stems, the blooms open sequentially from bottom to top for a long-lasting display! This North American native, prefers full or partial sun and fertile, moist, well-draining soil. To be planted in the fall months (Sept-Dec) for a late spring/early summer (June - July) bloom. Plant the bulbs at a depth of 4”, spacing them 4” apart from one another. Grow in garden beds, borders, or wildflower meadows, or use in cut flower arrangements. A striking garden feature, that if happy will gently reseed the surrounding area. An easy-to-grow variety that naturalizes easily, returning to your garden year after year!
