Centaurea montana - Amethyst in Snow

A striking bi‑coloured twist on the classic mountain cornflower, Centaurea montana ‘Amethyst in Snow’ features elegant white, fringed petals surrounding a deep amethyst‑purple centre. This clump‑forming perennial reaches about 12–18″ tall, spreading up to 28″ wide, creating a striking front-of-border accent or cottage garden focal point. Blooming from late spring into early summer—with occasional rebloom—it attracts bees and butterflies while thriving in dry, well-drained soil in full sun to light shade. Hardy in zones 3–9, drought‑tolerant, deer‑resistant, and easy‑growing, this cultivar also makes excellent cut flowers and naturalizes gently via stolons.
