Gardener's Notes: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last spring frost or sow directly outdoors after the last frost when temperatures are above 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10C). To help germination, soak seeds overnight in warm water. Can be grown in rows or hills like pumpkins in fertile, well-drained soil. Train on a trellis or fence. Pick gourds as stems start to dry. Cure in warm, dark place. Gourd turn from green to tan as they dry.
