Gardener's Notes: Okra is a warm season crop. Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow seeds 1/4 in. deep and 1 in. apart in containers of seed starting mix. Keep moist and very warm, 80F (27C). When 2-3 in. tall, transplant into individual containers. Provide a warm environment and plenty of light. Transplant outdoors in rich soil in full sun only when nights are above 55F (13C). Harvest pods when young and tender, and keep picked often for continued production.
