Gardener's Notes: Sweet peas love cool weather and need to grow before summer's heat. Plant in rich soil in early spring. To speed germination, soak seeds in warm water for 12-24 hours. Seeds can be started indoors 6-8 weeks before planting outside, or sow outdoors s soon as soil can be worked. In warm climates, plant in fall for late winter and early spring bloom. Provide a trellis or support for vines to climb.
