Epimedium × perralchicum - Frohnleiten

A stunning shade garden standout, Epimedium × perralchicum ‘Frohnleiten’ features glossy, heart‑shaped foliage marbled in red and green that emerges in spring before fading to deep evergreen in warm regions. In mid‑spring, it bursts into airy panicles of large butter‑yellow, spurred “fairy” flowers held about 30 cm (12″) high above the foliage. This vigorous, spreading perennial expands at roughly 30 cm (12″) per year, eventually reaching 25–38 cm (10–15″) tall and 30–60 cm (12–24″) wide, making it an ideal woodland groundcover or container specimen. Exceptionally low‑maintenance, it thrives in part to full shade, tolerates dry conditions once established, and is resistant to deer, rabbits, and drought.
