Pennisetum alopecuroides - Red Head

A vibrant selection of dwarf fountain grass, ‘Red Head’ captivates with smoky burgundy-red, bottlebrush-like plumes that arch gracefully above dense clumps of narrow green foliage. These 8–10″ flower spikes emerge in mid to late summer, shifting to silvery or buff-overtones in fall and often remaining intact well into winter for dramatic garden interest. Mature clumps typically reach 90–120 cm (36–48 in) tall with blooms and spread to about 60–90 cm (24–36 in)—adding elegant form and texture to borders or mixed beds. Exceptionally wildlife- and deer-friendly, this cultivar is drought-tolerant once established, thrives in full sun with moderate moisture, and is ideal for fresh or dried floral use.
