Dictamnus albus - Albiflorus
A striking and aromatic perennial, Dictamnus albus ‘Albiflorus’—commonly known as white gas plant or burning bush—produces elegant spires of starry, pure white flowers from early to mid-summer. Each bloom is delicately veined and lightly fragrant, rising above a mound of glossy, deep green foliage. This long-lived perennial prefers full sun and well-drained soil, and once established, is extremely drought-tolerant. Its foliage emits aromatic oils that, in hot weather, can ignite briefly if exposed to flame—hence the nickname “gas plant.” Slow to establish but well worth the wait, it's ideal for cottage gardens, borders, and pollinator-friendly plantings.
