Geranium sanguineum - Album

A charming, low-growing hardy cranesbill, Geranium sanguineum (Bloody Cranesbill) produces vibrant magenta-pink to rich purple flowers atop a mound of deeply divided, ferny green foliage in late spring and early summer. Standing 25–50 cm (10–20 in) tall with a spread of 30–60 cm (12–24 in), it slowly forms a dense, long-lasting groundcover ideal for borders, rock gardens, or mass plantings. Hardy in zones 3–9, this versatile perennial thrives in full sun to part shade in moist to average, well-drained soils and tolerates drought, clay, and heat once established. Foliage takes on brilliant red hues after frost, offering fall interest, and the blooms attract bees, butterflies, while also resisting deer and rabbits.
