Hosta - Sum & Substance
A true giant among hostas, ‘Sum & Substance’ impresses with its enormous, glossy leaves that shift from bright chartreuse to golden-yellow as the season progresses. Its bold, corrugated foliage forms a dense, vase-like mound that adds striking texture and colour to shady garden areas. In midsummer, tall flower scapes emerge bearing pale lavender, bell-shaped blooms that attract hummingbirds and bring added height and softness to the plant’s structure. This low-maintenance variety is more sun-tolerant than many hostas and is notably resistant to slugs, making it a favourite for both seasoned and new gardeners. Voted 2004 American Hosta Growers Association’s Hosta of the Year.
