Hosta – Thunderbolt

A vigorous sport of Hosta sieboldiana ‘Elegans,’ Hosta ‘Thunderbolt’ forms a striking medium‑large mound of thick, heavily corrugated blue‑green foliage edged in deep tones. Each leaf displays a narrow golden‑yellow “thunderbolt” stripe through spring that gradually fades to creamy white as the season progresses. Mid‑summer brings upright scapes reaching ~50–60 cm tall, bearing pure white, funnel‑shaped blooms that attract hummingbirds and pollinators. Hardy and fast‑growing, it thrives in moist, rich, well‑drained soil under bright or dappled shade and shows notable tolerance for light sun—making it a reliable, shade‑tolerant garden standout.
