Iris pallida - Aureovariegata

Softly fragrant pale lavender-blue blooms with contrasting yellow beards rise on tall stems above striking foliage—green leaves boldly streaked with creamy yellow variegation. This cultivar, also known as Aurea Variegata or 'Aureovariegata', features evergreen or semi-evergreen sword‑shaped leaves that remain attractive beyond blooming. Ideally planted in full sun to part shade, it performs best in well‑drained, humus-rich soil and is exceptionally hardy and drought-tolerant once established. Rising to about 60 cm (24 in) with a neat clump spread of 45–60 cm (18–24 in), it’s deer- and rabbit‑resistant and draws hummingbirds and butterflies to its fragrant flowers.
