Hakonechloa macra - Sunflare

A dazzling sport of golden Japanese forest grass, ‘Sunflare’ unfurls bright chartreuse-yellow blades with striking burgundy-red tips throughout summer. It forms a compact, fountain-like mound about 12–18″ tall and 18–24″ wide that cascades gracefully, perfect for containers, border edges, or woodland gardens. In fall, it dazzles with burnt orange and deep red tones before going into winter dormancy. Hardy, deer-resistant, and easy-care, it thrives in part to full shade with moist, well-drained soil—making it a standout seasonal performer.
