Athyrium niponicum - Metallicum

A graceful Japanese painted fern, Athyrium niponicum ‘Metallicum’ boasts metallic silver-gray fronds with green highlights and subtle burgundy midribs, creating a luminous, triangular clump. Reaching about 12–18 in (30–45 cm) tall and wide, it spreads slowly to form elegant mounds perfect for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or containers. Thriving in part to full shade, this low-maintenance fern prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil and remains deciduous. Its foliage remains vibrant through the seasons, and the plant is tolerant of deer and rabbits, making it a reliable accent for shady spots.
