Athyrium × - Ghost

A unique and eye-catching hybrid, Athyrium × 'Ghost' combines the upright stature of lady fern (A. filix-femina) with the silvery tones of Japanese painted fern (A. niponicum), producing frosted apple-green fronds with striking dark purple stems. Reaching about 24–36 in (60–90 cm) tall and 18–24 in (45–60 cm) wide, it stands upright, light-reflective, and adds elegant structure in shade to part-shade gardens. More tolerant of drier soils than many Athyriums, it thrives in moist, humus-rich, well-drained sites and remains low-maintenance and deer‑/rabbit‑resistant. With its ghostly glow, it's a perfect accent or groundcover for woodland borders and shady containers.
