Sow in early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked. Plant seeds 6mm (1/4") deep, 13mm (1/2") apart in moist, well-drained soil. Thin to 15cm-20cm (6-10") or for a less formal look, scatter thinly and rake in to required planting depth. Keep moist and thin as necessary. Water lightly but regularly.
Remove dead heads to prolong the flowering season. For cut flowers, pick as the heads begin to open, dip the cut ends into freshly-boiled water and place in a vase of cold water.
