This cabbage relative is grown for its globe shaped roots that are creamy yellow and have a robust but sweet flavor. Roots grow 4-5”/10- 12.5cm across and have light amber skin with a purplish top. Best if timed for harvest during cool weather of fall and winter. Use in soups, stews, baked and mashed. Roots store well. Has a reputation for being one of the hardiest of all the root crops.
