Miscanthus sinensis – Strictus

This dazzling cultivar—also known as Porcupine Grass—features upright, stiff green leaves banded in soft golden‑yellow horizontal stripes that glow in early or late sun. The rigid, upright clump often reaches 1.8–2.4 m (6–8 ft) tall and 1.2–1.8 m (4–6 ft) wide, making a striking vertical accent. In early fall, pinkish‑copper plumes emerge above the foliage, aging to silvery‑white and adding winter interest with their feathery texture. Awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, this deer‑ and drought‑resistant perennial thrives in full sun and well‑drained soil, and is ideal for specimen or screen plantings.
