A favourite of many gardeners, Allium “Purple Sensation”, is a striking variety with its inflorescence consisting of dozens of small, star-shaped, rich violet-lilac florets, forming perfectly round flower heads approximately 6” in diameter. “Purple Sensation” can grow to a maximum height of about 36”. Plant in the fall (Sept-Dec) for blooms arriving in late spring (May - June). In moist but well-draining soil. plant the bulbs at a depth of 4” leaving about 4” of space between each bulb. This fragrant allium loves the sun, but can also tolerate a bit of shade. Easy to grow variety ideal for hardiness zone 4, but can also be planted in zones 5 through 9. These plants are deer resistant but are advised that they are poisonous to pets if ingested. Attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators to your garden with the flowering spectacle of Allium “Purple Sensation”!
