Cucurbita pepo
This heirloom pumpkin dates back to 1863! It is easy to grow and produces several small 5-8 lb pumpkins that are unsurpassed for flavour and texture. Use in pies, soups, stews, loaves, you name it! Great storage quality.
Start in pots in greenhouse in April to transplant out after frost danger has passed, or direct seed in May. Seed 2.5 cm (1 inch) deep in fertile soil. It is popular to make mounds and plant 3-5 seeds, thinning to the strongest two plants. 80-100 days to maturity. When plants have died back, harvest and cure in the sun for 10 days safe from frost or in a warm dry room. Enjoy!
Certified organic in British Columbia.
