Deschampsia cespitosa - Goldtau

A graceful, clump-forming tufted hair grass prized for its fine-textured, deep-green foliage and airy summer flower panicles. In early summer, sprays of chartreuse-gold blossoms emerge atop slender stems, maturing to warm bronze hues and lasting through winter to enhance garden structure. Semi-evergreen and cool-season tolerant, ‘Goldtau’ thrives in sun to part shade, preferring moist, well-drained soils—ideal for rain gardens, woodland edges, or naturalized plantings. This North American native is low-maintenance, deer-resistant, and works beautifully en masse or as a soft backdrop to bold perennials.
