Sow directly to the garden after final frost as soon as the ground can be worked. Sow seeds 13mm (1/2") deep, 2.5cm (1") apart in fine soil. Keep well watered, particularly when plants are young, to reduce chance of bolting. Harvest through to first frost by, picking separate stems as required. Row cover protection in late fall will allow for a longer harvest.
Be sure to give the plants plenty of water, especially in mid-summer, to minimize any bitter taste.
